Muscat to Dubai on a budget

Dubai is the easiest big-city break from Muscat: about an hour in the air, no visa for Omanis, and constant flight competition that keeps fares low outside holiday peaks. The trick is that the city can cost as little or as much as you let it; the good news is most of its best moments are free.

Common questions

How much does a 3-night Dubai trip cost from Muscat?
For two people sharing a mid-range hotel, plan from roughly 440 OMR all-in: return flights, three hotel nights, and realistic daily spending. Solo or hostel-based trips come in well under that.
Do Omanis need a visa for Dubai?
No. GCC citizens can enter the UAE with a national ID card. Expat residents of Oman need to arrange a UAE visa in advance.
When is Dubai cheapest?
Late May through August: hotel rates drop sharply in the heat. If you want good weather instead, November and early December usually beat the December-holiday and spring peaks.
